Boy (7) in hit and run incident sustains broken leg

A 7-year-old grade 1 pupil of Laerskool Westwood, who was run over on June 9, sustained serious injuries, which includes a broken leg.

The accident happened on Phyllis and Krischner roads, opposite Laerskool Westwood.

EMPD spokesperson Supt Wilfred Kgasago confirmed the accident.

“It was a hit and run accident where the 7-year-old boy, who is a student at Westwood Laerskool, sustained serious injuries with a broken leg and was transported to The Life Gleynnwood Hospital.

“The driver of the motor vehicle came back to the scene and the metro police opened a case against him.

“He was charged with reckless and negligent driving,” said Kgasago.

The school has not yet commented on the incident.
