Empowering children to be safe

The Reiger Park SAPS, along with the EMPD, Department of Social Development and Kidz Clinic Boksburg, recently visited several primary schools and crèches in Reiger Park, as part of National Child Protection Week.

Speakers touched on topics dealing with child abuse and crimes against children.

The young ones were also taught about their rights and how to report any harm done to them.

According to Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashudu Phathela, the team found that pupils in the different schools are dealing with a number of problems relating to abuse, and those issues will be attended to soon.

* As part of the annual ”Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day”, the Reiger Park SAPS took 23 learners from Oos-Rand Secondary, Reiger Park Secondary and Balmoral College to the Germiston SAPS, where the children learned more about career opportunities within the SAPS. -@FanieFLK
