Newborn baby’s body found in manhole
A deceased newborn baby boy was found in an open manhole, in Field Road, Lillianton, on June 2.
The child was estimated to have been in the manhole for between three to five days.
According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, a pedestrian walked by an open manhole and caught a whiff of a horrendous smell.
“Out of curiosity he looked down into the drain and saw something that looked like a baby,” said Coetzer.
“A medic was called and declared the child dead. It was then determined to be a baby boy.”
A case has been opened and will be investigated further. – @IschkeBoksburg
