Goats were just being inquisitive, not abused – metro
A concerned Boksburg resident was shocked when he noticed two goats apparently stuck in a plastic bin at the Bokkie Park.
Conrad Nel made the discovery when he visited the park on May 25.
“There were no workers in sight to help them, which made me even more worried; not just that, the goats were enclosed in an area where they used to keep the chickens,” he said.
The Ekurhuleni Metro said the goats were just being inquisitive.
“Goats are by nature curious and will explore their surroundings where possible,” said metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“They tend to climb into trees, on top of vehicles, equipment and anything else to stimulate their minds.”
Unfortunately, said Gadebe, their inquisitive nature at times leads them to end up in sticky situations or in undesirable places.
“In this situation, the two goats explored the chicken run and smelled the chicken food inside the bin, which resulted in both of them being stuck in the bin, with no injuries incurred.”
