Easter bonnets bring joy and smiles to pensioners

The South African Association of Retired Persons' Lakefield Social Club recently held an Easter bonnet competition, and members went all out in designing the most creative hats.

Following the competition, there was an interesting presentation on steam trains, by one of the members.

The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the function hall of Hecker’s Nursery, in North Rand Road.

The club, which has over 100 members, started in June 2014.

Since then, the members, who are over 50 years old, have had the pleasure of listening to many interesting speakers and they have also enjoyed many outings.

On May 30, members of the club will be taking a trip on a steam train to Irene.

For further more information about the club, contact Pam Harvey on 011 894 8049 or 082 457 3947, or send an e-mail to pamh1008@gmail.com. – @IschkeBoksburg
