Ensuring a safe trip for children over the Easter weekend

To ensure the safety of children on the road during the Easter weekend, CarTrack, in partnership with Wheel Well, handed out more than 100 child car seats to patrons at the East Rand Mall.

The initiative received a positive reaction from mall visitors, who donated money towards the Wheel Well programme in exchange for a donated car seat.

Peggie Mars, a road-safety activist from Wheel Well, also educated beneficiaries on how to use a car seat to possibly save a child’s life in the event if an accident.

Founded by Mars, Wheel Well is a non-profit organisation, entirely dedicated to the protection of children and has been going from strength to strength for the past couple of years, as it has already handed out thousands of children’s car seats.

After collecting used car seats from donors, members of Wheel Well has them cleaned and refurbished before they are made available to needy families, for a small donation.

Beneficiaries are also encouraged to donate their chairs once their children have grown up, to potentially save another child’s life.
