Cheryl Gove, administration secretary at the college, said pupils have the opportunity to visit various destinations in and around Gauteng, including famous angling venues such as the Vaal Dam and the Vaal River.
“Through the running of the club, avid anglers are able to put their angling skills to the test, with help and guidance from provincial anglers, to try and catch their trophy fish,” said Gove.
“The club is run as any angling club with points being collected throughout the meetings during the year.”
Gove said these points will then result in top anglers being awarded at the end of the year in various categories, including champion angler and heaviest catch.
She said that the school tries to hold at least two meetings per term so that pupils are able to fish at different venues and target different species of fish.
