Katlehong cluster police spokesperson, Captain Mega Ndobe, said the unfortunate incident happened after two suspects were caught red-handed robbing a shop in Dawn Park.
By that time, the owner of the shop had already been attacked, but survived the ordeal.
“When the police tried to arrest the men, one of them took a gun and shot himself,” said Ndobe.
