Metro police ordered to be more vigilant on the roads

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police have been ordered to be more vigilant on the roads, following a spate of accidents involving children.

This is according to the mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, who spoke during the council meeting in February.

“Since the beginning of February, we have had numerous accidents, with children ending up in hospital. One such accident occurred on Heidelberg Road, when a Venture collided with a tanker, resulting in eight children being hospitalised.

“A couple of weeks ago, there was another accident involving school children. This time it was a muncipal bus which overturned along Barry Murray Road near Vosloorus.

“This state of affairs is not acceptable,” said Gungubele.

“We cannot have a situation in which every week we must be worried about the safety of our children.” – @NalediBoksburg
