Shoppers not shaken by recent robberies

Following the recently reported robberies at shopping centres on the East Rand, the Advertiser asked a few shoppers if they feel safe shopping anywhere and at any time.

James Bongani: "As a security guard, we make sure that the customers are well protected, however, there is a problem with car thefts. I advise people to pay car guards to secure their vehicles."

Charmaine Curtil: “I feel safe to shop around because I have not been a victim of a shopping crime, however, if it did happen to me I would be telling a different story.”

Naledi Chilwane and Privilege Veremu: “Criminals are everywhere in this country, but we don’t have a choice but to go out shopping. We also have no choice but to shop at the end of the day.”

Angelino Church: “I still feel safe to go shopping anywhere.”

Jackie Arnoltt: “It is not even safe to go out of my house anymore, never mind going shopping.”

André de Klerk: “I feel safe to do my shopping, I make sure that I shop at secure areas where I feel comfortable.”
