UPDATE: Some kids sustained serious injuries in yesterday’s bus accident
Some of the children in yesterday's school bus accident sustained serious injuries.
EMS Spokesperson William Ntladi said one learner sustained a broken arm while the other suffered a broken leg.
Both learners are in a serious but stable condition.
EMER-G-MED Paramedics spokesperson, Danielle Dooley, said other children sustained head injuries, long bone fractures, lacerations, fractured ribs, fractured clavicle, concussion and soft tissue injuries, to name a few.
More than 40 children were involved in the accident.
Dooley said the accident occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
She said the driver of the bus saw that the traffic was backing up ahead of him and he tried to slow down.
However, he lost control of the bus due to the wet and slippery road, resulting in the bus rolling over.
Traffic was heavily effected.
The learners were from an athletic gathering and it’s not yet known which schools they are from.
