Child rescued from drain
Kwandokuhle Mthethwa (5) fell into a drain hole on Sunday, February 1, in Windmill Park, and suffered minor injuries.
According to an eyewitness, Pastor Arnold Fortune, the child was running after his mother when the incident occurred.
“It was devastating to see a child in so much pain, we managed to pull him out and immediately rushed him to Tambo Memorial Hospital,” Fortune said.

“The hole was not too deep, because sand and rubbish had piled up in it, so it was easy for me to pull him out.
“Residents have complained about this drain before, but no one has done anything about it. ‘It is not safe, especially for the children in our community.”
The mother of the child, Lebohang Mthethwa, said that her son is getting much better.
“He is doing just fine, but he is still suffering from head injuries.
”He is back in Windmill Park Primary School and I believe he will recover his full health.”
