H2O organiser Forbes back in court today

David Forbes, the promoter and owner of popular annual H20 Party and a consultant to Ultra Music Festival SA, is due to return to the Cape Town Magistrate's Court today.

He is accused of killing Toefiq Joseph in the parking lot of the Engen garage in Orange Street, Cape Town, on Saturday afternoon, January 24.

Forbes made his first court appearance at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday, after being assessed by the district surgeon and treated for a cut on his forearm.

Kate Thompson-Duwe, a spokeswoman for the festival, confirmed that the man held in connection with the fatal shooting was production consultant, David Forbes.

She, however, said they could not comment on the investigation.

“Although Forbes is not an owner of either Ultra South Africa or the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and even though event organisers cannot directly comment on the details of any pending investigations, the facts of which remain unknown, we are nonetheless saddened to hear about the circumstances of the weekend’s incident and our thoughts are with the families of those involved,” she said

According to reports, Forbes allegedly has a previous conviction of common assault related to an incident in 1996 when he paid an admission of guilt fine at the Germiston police station.
