H20 organiser Dave Forbes arrested for murder

It has emerged that the man arrested in connection with the fatal shooting in Cape Town is the co-promoter of the infamous H20 parties, Electric brands and co-owner of Nicci Beach Nightclub in Bardene.

The prominent businessman, Dave Forbes (48), was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murdering a 23-year-old Toufiq Joseph in the parking lot of the Engen garage in Orange Street.

Forbes, who is also connected to the production of an international festival to be held in South Africa next month, appeared in court today.

His case has been postponed until tomorrow for bail information.

According to a Western Cape police spokesperson, Lieut Col Andre Traut, Joseph was shot at a filling station in the afternoon, apparently after an argument between the victim and the accused, on Saturday afternoon, January 24.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under police investigation,” explains Traut.

According to a media report, the sale of tickets for a major music festival may have led to a Woodstock man being shot dead in broad daylight.

Dave’s Brother Paul Forbes confirmed that he was arrested and that he appeared in court today.
