Four family members killed in Boksburg accident
The number of people killed on Ekurhuleni Roads on Friday has risen to twelve
Yet another fatal accident occurred on Ekurhuleni roads on Friday afternoon, bringing the number of people killed on our roads in one day to 12.
According to William Ntladi, Ekurhuleni emegency services spokesman, four passengers who were travelling in one vehicle died instantly when their vehicle collided with a double cab bakkie on the intersection of Middle and Rondebult roads in Boksburg.
He said the rescue team of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services responded to the scene at about 2.10pm and on arrival found four people, already dead, and three other injured people, still trapped inside the vehicle, including a three-month-old baby.
The team had to use the Jaws of Life to access all patients as they were rendering medical treatment to the injured.
The three injured passengers from a hatch-back vehicle Opel Corsa Lite were all transported to OR Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg.
A woman suffered critical injuries, the baby was in a serious but stable condition and the driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan Navara suffered minor injuries and he was transported to Sunward Park Hospital for further medical treatment.
Ntladi said it is believed all four who died on the scene belonged to one family.
On Friday morning six people died in a head-on collision between a taxi and double cab bakkie. The death toll in this accident has since risen to eight.
