It appears that he suffered severe burns in his attempt to steal the cables.
Due to this incident, it also appears certain areas in Boksburg North was without power, allegedly due to the cable theft, until the the early hours of Friday morning, November 7.
The Advertiser contacted Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, for more details.
