Outrage as Taegrin’s murder suspect appears in court
The courtroom of the Boksburg Magistrate's Court was filled with hundreds of angry Reiger Park citizens on the first appearance of the hijacking and murder suspect of toddler, Taegrin Morris, on Wednesday, October 29.
Tamsanqa Brutus Twala was arrested in Katlehong on Tuesday, October 28 and was apparently positively identified as one of the hijackers who hijacked the family while they were visiting a relative.
“Everyone is sad and angry about happened,” said Reiger Park community leader, Hein April.
When Twala was escorted out of the dock, the crowd chanted “No bail, enough is enough”.
According to April, Twala is not from the Reiger Park community. “He does not look familiar – I have never seen him before.”
The death of Taegrin, who died in July after being dragged for a long distance behind a hijacked car in Reiger Park, left the community furious as many demanded justice.
Taegrin was left hanging halfway out of the car in his safety belt and was dragged for almost 9km as the car was driven off by the hijackers.
Twala is facing charges of murder, aggravated robbery and possession of an unlicenced firearm.
The bail hearing has been scheduled for Friday, November 7.
