According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the members were reacting to an armed robbery call at the corner of Cason Road and Fourteenth Avenue.
“The officers arrived just before 2am and found a silver Renault with five occupants.
“One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the officers; as they tried to apprehend them the suspect with the firearm was wounded,” she says.
Coetzer adds that the officers managed to arrest all five suspects and recovered an unlicensed firearm.
The wounded suspect was taken to the Tambo Memorial Hospital for treatment. – @CarmenBoksburg
