Cable theft leads to accidents along Commissioner Road

After residents complained that the lack of streetlights and road markings were to blame for accidents, the metro says that the area near Angelo is a hotspot for cable theft.

As a result of this, the metro has installed protective structure boxes to curb the vandalism along Commissioner Road near the Angelo Deep Mine houses.

“We have also asked CPI, a private security company contracted with the municipality in dealing with such incidents, to assist us with these acts of vandalism in this area.

“These lights were, however, tested and are in working condition for now,” says metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The road marking team started the work on October 14.
