Plea deal after stealing over R900 000

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Maché Boshoff, from Alberton, appeared in court on 176 charges of theft.

The accused entered into a plea and sentence agreement after she had repaid R900 000 to the complainant. She was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, on condition that she repaid the complainant the sum of R63 406.16 in 60 monthly installments.

The accused was the wages clerk for Labrose Brokers and during the time of her employment, she compiled wage payroll services for non-existent employees.

The money was then paid into the accused’s account.

During the time of the offence the accused stole R963 406.16.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Jabu Motha appeared on behalf of the State.

* Theko Moeketsi (34), from Angelo, appeared in court on a charge of attempted theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on October 3, to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On May 18, the accused dug a trench and attempted to steal copper cables – property of the metro.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Jabu Motha appeared on behalf of the State.

n Dorien Koopman (28) appeared in court on a charge of aggravated robbery.

She pleaded guilty and was found guilty on August 19, and sentenced on September 30 to five years imprisonment.

On October 9, 2013, the accused assaulted the complainant and, using a toy gun, stole one weed eater,

She had previous convictions of theft from September 2009, and malicious damage to property from April 2012.

Magistrate Ryan van Harte presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* George Mofokeng (57), Malehlohenolo Mofokeng (28) and Matshidiso Mofokeng (26), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on charges of trespassing, house break-in and contempt of court.

They were acquitted on the contempt and trespassing charges.

They were sentenced to three years imprisonment, suspended for five years, on condition they vacate the property before October 31.

On July 25, 2013, the men unlawfully broke into the property, belonging to CUF Properties.

Magistrate Ryan van Harte presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* Nhlanhla Lucky Dube (30), from Boksburg North, appeared in court on a charge of violating a protection order.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on October 3, to eight months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On May 8, the accused contravened a protection order when he followed and threatened to kill the complainant.

Magistrate Ryan van Harte presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* Benneth Chauke (24) appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on October 3, to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On July 11, the accused stole chocolates to the value of R8 035.95.
