Local Bachelorette finalist keeps eye on charity

Boksburg’s Rozanne Meyer (28) is one of the top five finalists for the South African Bachelorette of the Year.

The competition aims to find South Africa’s most eligible bachelor and bachelorette.

Meyer says that SA’s Bachelor and Bachelorette is not a match-making competition, nor a beauty pageant.

“The competition focuses on identifying successful single candidates who are not married or engaged, and aged 20 years and older, who can make a difference and create awareness through charity or community work,” she explains.

The national competition’s chosen charity for the past three years has been the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

Meyer says she entered the competition because she realised that there is more to life than just day-to-day living.

“I didn’t want to have an ordinary life, because I believe that we are all called for extraordinary things.”

She has her own charity project called Lipstick for Girls.

“The project is about giving back and spoiling ladies with what we think are necessities, but to them are a treat.”

Meyers says that the competition is run on donations and asks the public to support her and e-mail meyer.rozanne@gmail.com.

Meyers grew up in Sunward Park and went to Laerskool Baanbreker before completing high school at Elsburg High School.

She is working as a Marketing and Events specialist.

The winners of the competition will be announced at a gala event in November. – @TumeloBoksburg
