The Cornerstone Higher Education Learning Centre is based at the East Rand Academy in Witfield, Boksburg.
The Academy is made up of a crèche, primary school, and now the centre, which are all situated behind a church.
According to the principal, Izak Duvenage, the aim of the academy is to supply the community with a “one-stop” education option.
“People always complain about not having a University in Ekurhuleni but they do not know about the Cornerstone Higher Education Learning Centre established here on our campus in 2013.
“We have grown to have one of the first e-learning (online) interactive higher education facilities in Africa,” explains Duvenage.
He says each student is given a tablet upon registration and exams are conducted online.
“Students will be able to attend live lectures, webinars and other virtual meetings for group sessions. They get to study via a state-of-the-art technology platform, while enjoying the benefit of a traditional campus life experience,” he adds.
The difference between the East Rand Academy and other institutions explains Duvenage, is that they pride themselves in being strict in discipline, while offering a strong biblical foundation.
“We are a private school subsidised by the Gauteng Department of Education – our curriculum has been approved by them, but we also teach our students biblical principles, which they can apply in their daily lives,” adds Duvenage.
The self-learning institution enables students to monitor their progress and has no more than 25 students per class he adds.
“We pride ourselves to have a neat, secure and spacious campus that it is conducive to efficient education. We also offer extra curriculum activities and currently hold the title for the U/17 champions of soccer amongst the private schools.”
Cornerstone Christian Institute of Higher Education offers a degree, diploma or certificate programme in teaching, business leadership, interior design, psychology, community development, fine arts, theology and sociology.

The KINGDOM LAMBS CRECHE. The crèche caters for kids from 2 to 5 year old from 7h00 to 19h00 on weekdays. We have a secure and safe play area and can handle 200 kids with ease. Plans are now made for further extension of the current facilities.
DESTINY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY caters for students from Grade 0 to Grade 12. We have specialised and qualified educators for each grade/class. Classes never have more than 25 students and are being tutored by two educators, one an administrative assistant and the other a properly qualified educator. Our Matric exemption certificates are SAQA certified and we are currently working on getting ICCE certification for our Matric certificates (International certification). We have a Science Laboratory and supply e-lectures in Maths and Sciences.
CORNESTONE HIGHER EDUCATION is a tertiary learning centre where students can obtain certificates, diplomas and degrees that are CHE and DHET accredited.
SPORTWISE, we cater for all the major sports types (Soccer, Athletics, Volleyball, Cricket, etc.) and we have a fully equipped Gymnasium.
We have plans on the cards to expand the school to 200 Primary students and 100 Secondary students the next two years.
