Boksburg residents support police lockdown

In a bid to put a stranglehold on crime in Reiger Park, the Gauteng SAPS decided to place the township under police lockdown.

A number of people took to the Advertiser website and the newspaper’s social media networking sites to convey their support and views on the new crime prevention tactic.

Some are saying it’s a great idea, and want the SAPS to lockdown all the Boksburg areas suffering outbreaks of crime.

Here are a few of the comments from our website and Facebook page.

Clayton Mike Andrews wrote: Windmill Park is where it all happens; hijacking, robbery at gunpoint, day and night gang shootouts and these are all drug-related crimes surrounding this place. I believe the police should also put this area on police lockdown.

Julio Dos Santos wrote: Maybe they should add Sunward Park to the lockdown.

Wally Hawkins wrote: I am glad for Reiger Park SAPS, but a lot of other Boksburg areas are just as bad. Why did the SAPS allow it to get so out of hand? Please help.

Cheryl Charmaine Richards wrote: They should include Ramaphosa and Boksburg central. – @FanieBoksburg
