Numsa: talks to resume

In an effort to resolve the ongoing strike, wage talks between Numsa and Seifsa resumed today, July 22.

More than 200 000 employees downed tools on July 2, demanding between a 12 to 15 per cent wage increase.

According to Castro Ngobese, spokesperson for Numsa, they are due to hear a response from Seifsa on a wage proposal put forward by the union at the weekend.

“If they agree to it, then we must go to our members and indicate to them that this is how far we’ve gone as a union,” Ngobese said.

Numsa has already rejected a pay increase offer of between nine per cent and 10 per cent. – @CarmenBoksburg
