Community protest for Taegrin Morris
A group of Reiger Park community members is protesting outside the Reiger Park police station, demanding justice for Taegrin Morris (4) who was killed after being dragged head down of a moving hijacked vehicle.
The members have also raised issues of concern about the unacceptable level of crime in the area and want police to ensure their safety.
The station commander, Col Sipho Mathebula, addressed the crowd and assured them that police will do their best to bring the criminals responsible for the incident to book.
The protesters say they are also showing solidarity and support for the family of Taegrin in this time of loss.
The group has also threatened to march when the one arrested suspect appears in court.
The court date has not yet been confirmed.
Police had offered a reward of R50 000 for information on the hijacking.

This was a sickening act of barbarism. These culprits should be given to the community to be dealt with. If only the government would bring back the death penalty. When you look at the Muslim countries where people are stoned to death,you won’t find such high crime rates. Here in SA,the criminals know they’ve got more rights than the taxpayer. They can get a 15year jail term,serve 6years of it & be released again to come and commit even worse crimes.
Heavy action should be taken too resolve this highjacking issues. A beautiful little boy was taken from his family because of Incompetent human beings that have no heart!They Should Honestly Never See the Light of day again ever,they don’t deserve too.. Agreed brucene… My mom’s murderer (& i’m also from Reiger Park as well as the murderer) served 6 years of his 12year sentence and is back doing what he did… So sick!
Violence has never been something I thought I would support, but after hearing this on the news this morning I hope these barbarians get EXACTLY what is coming to them.
These killers should get no mercy whatsoever. Anyone who could kill another person, a CHILD, in such a disgraceful manner (or at all) should be treated with that same kind of utter disregard for humanity.
