Court news: Robber gets correctional supervision

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court.

* Andrew Ngwenya (28), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of robbery.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on March 31 and sentenced on July 14, to 24 months correctional supervision.

On February 8, the accused assaulted a man and stole two cellphones.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Lindie Msthali (21), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of malicious injury to property.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on May 21 and sentenced on July 14. The magistrate postponed the passing of sentence for five years.

On May 12, the accused damaged the clothes of Lungile Msthali by burning them.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Thomas Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Rene Volschnek (24), from Boksburg, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

She pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on July 9, to R4 000 or six months imprisonment.

On June 17, the accused stole groceries from Shoprite, to the value of R1 303.42.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Sheron Billings (25), from Reiger Park, appeared in court on a charge of possession of drugs.

She pleaded guilty and was found guilty on May 30 and sentenced on July 9, to R2 000 or four months imprisonment.

On May 24, the accused was found in possession of a small amount of dagga, equal to one joint.

Though investigation the court found that she had a previous conviction of possession of drugs from earlier this year. In that case it was found that the accused used the name Sheridan Billings.
