Large hole in Leeupoort Street still not fixed

Business people in Leeuwpoort Street, Boksburg CBD, are frustrated.

They say it’s taking too long to replace the stolen stormwater drain cover stolen from the busy street more than two months ago.

A gaping hole has been left open since the beginning of April, after the grate, which is a piece of metal that measures more than 1m in length, was stolen from the northside parking on Leeuwpoort Street.

According to the business people in the area, the Ekurhuleni Road and Storm Water Department appears unable to solve the problem.

They claim that they logged complaints in April with the metro, and add that municipal officials came out and inspected the problem, but have failed to do anything about it.

Concerned business people demand that the metro takes the appropriate action before someone gets hurt.

The Advertiser ran a story about this hole early last month.

Back in May, a driver of a black Jetta also told the Advertiser that he almost drove into the uncovered storm drain.

The metro was contacted for a comment on the matter, but has not yet responded. – @FanieBoksburg
