Hewitt’s cases transferred

Rape-accused former tennis legend champion, Bob Hewitt, briefly appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Friday, June 6.

During the judicial proceeding, Hewitt was told that the three charges against him will now be centralised. That means the charges against him will be heard in one court.

The Boksburg Magistrate Court will transfer the cases to Palm Ridge Court, where the matter will resume on February 9, next year.

Hewitt faces two charges of rape. One of the alleged rapes that took place in Boksburg in 1982, and the other at Sun City in 1981.

He also faces a charge of indecent assault.

Hewitt was not in court for previous hearings because he was apparently ill.

One of his accusers, Suellen Sheehan, attended the hearing on Friday.

Also in attendance were members of the Women and Men Against Child Abuse and MatrixMen (an organisation that supports survivors of abuse and sexual abuse). – @FanieBoksburg
