According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Charles Tshabalala, a bullet was shot through the victims shack door and hit him in the forehead. He died on the scene.
The victim and his friend stayed in the same yard but in different shacks.
“At 3am the victims’ friend heard a gunshot and went outside to investigate. He then saw eight men who attacked him and robbed him of R400, including his cellphone,” says Tshabalala.
Tshabalala says the eight men had attempted to enter the victim’s shack but shot through the door instead.
“None of the victim’s belongings had been taken.”
Police are still investigating the incident and at this stage do not know whether the weapon used was a rifle or pistol.
