Hoping for a positive future

Many Boksburg residents made their mark in the country’s fifth democratic election on Wednesday, May 7, with the biggest hope that the winning party will be able to cut out crime and corruption.

“Criminal justice should be served and justice must prevail,” said Marie Jansen.

Jolene Kruger told the Advertiser that the crime rate needs to come down and hopefully with the change, it will.

Kruger also emphasised that the country needs a change for the sake of our childrens’ future.

The predominant reason for people voting, is with the prospect of bringing a change to South Africa.

Jo-Anne Jansen van Vuuren said by voting, one is already making the right choice.

Residents voting at Laerskool Concordia were proudly showing off the marks on their thumbs.

“You must be part of the country, and I hope to make a positive contribution to our country,” said Van Vuuren.

Another voter, Miguel dos Santos, said if you don’t vote, you have no reason to complain.

A few first-time voters also wish to make a positive contribution to the future of the country.

“Our country needs change. I believe my vote will make a difference,” said Lebogang Masopoga.

“Hopefully the winning party can minimise corruption and provide more jobs and create order in the country.”
