Kidz Clinic seeks social worker

Kidz Clinic is looking for an Afrikaans social worker who comes from a statutory background with strong therapeutic and assessment experience.

The social worker needs to have a background in play therapy, family therapy and parental guidance.

Kidz Clinic offers a variety of services for abused children.

They function within the parameters of a medico-legal and social work structure where strict and professional standards are maintained.

Referrals to the clinics are made by the SAPS, Department of Education as well as schools, health clinic, child welfare societies, doctors, hospitals, community members and friends and family.

Children are seen on an out-patient basis and the process is structured to reduce fear and anxiety synonymous with abuse, and to promote healing.

Staff at the clinics conduct a thorough assessment of each child and provide the following services:

* Psycho-social, trauma and competence assessment.

* Forensic assessment for criminal cases.

* Trauma debriefing.

* Medical examination and treatment and completion of J88 form to accompany police docket.

*Assistance and therapy for parents and caregivers.

* Assistance in opening a criminal case with the SAPS.

* Testing and treatment of STD’s.

* HIV/Aids testing and counselling.

* Pregnancy tests, counselling and support.

* Court preparation.

* Removal, when necessary, of a child from an unsafe environment, to a place of safety.

* On-going therapy for child victims and parents.

* Compiling assessment reports to be used in court.

* Social workers, doctors and forensic nurse testify as expert witnesses.

All services at the Kidz Clinics are provided free of charge.
