
Pillay was convicted for her involvement in a tax fraud syndicate that embezzled about R30-million from up to 12 different companies.
Magistrate D Mashimbi, who presided over Pillay’s case in the Germiston Regional Court, handed down a 22-year prison sentence to her.
She was sentenced to 15 years for fraud and seven years for money laundering.
She will serve both sentences concurrently.
