According to Capt Mega Ndobe, Katlehong cluster communications officer, the victim was shot by an unknown suspect while driving his car not far from the Dawn Park police station.
“He was shot in the upper body and was taken to hospital. It is alleged that he is a driver and taxi owner,” says Ndobe.
Ndobe says after the shooting, the victim was able to run to the police station for assistance, while the suspect(s) fled the scene.
There is no information at this stage of the suspect(s) who fled the scene.
Ndobe says a pistol was found in the victim’s car, and there is no clear indication of whether it belongs to him or to the suspect(s).
“We are hoping that as we continue investigating the incident that the community will come forward with information to assist us.”
