Motorists fail to stop at stop sign
A concerned resident in Groeneweide has alerted the Advertiser that motorists are not heeding to the rules of the road by stopping at a stop sign on the corner of Viooltjie and Tunny roads, Groeneweide.
The stop sign is situated in front of the complainant’s house.
The complainant, who is known to the Advertiser, says numerous petitions have been sent to municipality to assist regarding this matter to no avail.
“I wish I knew why motorists are not stopping at this stop sign, as it is a very dangerous habit,” she says.
The Advertiser took to the streets to investigate the stop sign in question, to verify whether this allegation was indeed true.
Upon investigation, a video was taken at the intersection, and the complainant’s allegation was proved to be true, as motorists zoomed past the stop sign, unaware that they were on camera.

At last someone else has taken up the fight!
This matter has been reported to the Boksburg Advertiser before, who failed to follow through with the matter.
The matter is now under investigation by the Public Protector, who is currently awaiting a response from the EMPD Chief of Police.
