The DA believes that all preparations including filling of vacancies, text books and learner admission are properly sorted.
It is hoped that all the programmes including scholar transport, nutrition programme, teacher development, infrastructure and roll out of tablets are in order as promised by the department of education.
As part of the party’s school readiness visit, DA Gauteng Education spokesperson MPL, Khume Ramulifho, along with other DA public representatives, visited several schools in the province, when the school year officially started on Wednesday morning, January 15.
“The DA equally believes that education is societal issue, so issues deserving urgent actions were referred to the MEC’s office for urgent intervention,” says Ramulifho.
Ramulifho also urge learners and teachers to be disciplined.
Shadow minister of Basic Education, Annette Lovemore, also wishes all learners who started their first day of school the best of luck.
“We are proud of you, and we hope that you will make use of every opportunity available to you to succeed. We also commend our returning learners who continue to persevere.
“We encourage parents and communities to support all learners and to do whatever they can to ensure our children’s success in the education system and beyond.
“Our brave and hardworking teachers deserve the same support. They have the immense responsibility of preparing our children for successful and productive futures. Many work under extremely difficult conditions,” says Lovemore.
“Our message to all learners is to work hard and enjoy the learning experience. To learners in matric this year: Study hard, use your time wisely and remain focused.
“We look forward to celebrating your academic achievements. We are 100 per cent behind you,” says Lovemore.
