Griffiths crowned Miss Universe
Bikini bodybuilding beauty, Christy Griffiths, was crowned the World Physique Federation’s (WPF) Miss Universe at the Mr and Mrs Universe pageant, held in Naples, Italy, on December 7.

Griffiths edged out five ladies in the final line-up, which comprised of six ladies in total for the award.
The 21-year-old’s honour capped a strong finish to 2013, with the Miss Universe crowning following her win at the WPF South African Championships, where she pipped fellow Boksburg resident Cat Buys Rademeyer, and subsequently qualifying for Italy.
“Winning this (Miss Universe) was such an indescribable feeling, I was shocked yet so happy at the same time,” said a jubilant Griffiths.
“It’s amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to the things that you really want and which matter.
“My goal for 2013 was to stand on an international stage and that goal was already realised, the win was just a bonus. When someone goes and works for what they really want, it can be accomplished,” she added.
When asked about what to expect from her in 2014, the newly-crowned Miss Universe said that 2014 will see her focusing her attention to new goals.
“In 2014 I am now focused on achieving new goals, mainly to be associated with a supplement company, competing in the World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (WBFF), which is one of South Africa’s newest and biggest shows that has come here from overseas.
“I do recommend that all girls in this industry compete in this show, it is so beneficial and gives you great exposure,” she stressed.
“I would like to try do another international competition this year too; and my final goal for 2014 is to help any girls interested in transforming their body and competing.”
Regarding her favourite saying, she says: “I don’t just dream about it, but I make it come true. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”
