Every year the metro (via the mayor) bleats about improving this and doing that – to try to warrant the above inflation rate increases in rates and service fees.
Was there any improvement in service delivery in 2013?
Let’s review: the state of the road system – poorly maintained, resulting in break-up and numerous pot-holes; many traffic lights out of action (in some cases for weeks); and the big one, the constant power failures.
Taking our President’s lead, this is what you would expect in a third world country like Malawi!
Will we notice any improvement in 2014? No way.
The same incompetents remain in power, misappropriating and blatantly wasting our taxes on a) themselves, b) their mates, c) numerous functions and parties.
Poor road maintenance continues – yes; constant, recurring power failures – yes; non-working, unsynchronised traffic lights – yes.
In addition, look out for continuous approval of developments without reviewing road capacities, and how about our creaking sewage system?
How people continue to vote for these fund-absorbing incompetents is beyond me!
