Power restored in Freeway Park and Sunward Park

Boksburg power restored.

Sunward Park and Freeway Park residents can now breathe a sigh of relief as municipality says that power in the areas has been restored.

Municipality had earlier stated that the interruption followed after two feeder cables supplying power to the areas experienced fault.

The two areas were without electricity since December 16.

  1. We r still experiencing electrical problemsin Freeway Park. It went off last night the 23rd, came back morning of the 24th. It’s off again this early evening of Christmas Eve.

  2. Can someone please explain if there are any deliberate switching ON and Off of this electricity. Who will take responsibility of our affected appliances?

  3. For the last month, the bottom end of Freeway Park and Sunward Park has experienced power failure after power failure. Residents fumed on the 24th when the lights went out for the umpteenth time – it looked liked it was going to be a Black Christmas. Fortunately though power was restored in the evening of the 24th.
But why must the power always go off in this area? Cinderella, Elspark, Klippoortjie, Windmill Park, Dawn Park and Libradene are unaffected – Council keeps pulling the plug only on Sunward & Freeway Park … we must remember this when the Municipal elections arrive.

  4. Its frustrating for a person to pay rates and taxes and electricity but still only have a couple of hours electricirt per day. My new years resolution is to move as far away from freeway park as possible. It will turn into a ghost town because clearly Bokbsburg council does not have the staff with the correct knowledge to solve this problem

  5. Well, it’s the 30th and the power failures continue in Sunward park. Our power went off at 5pm and now at 23:30 it’s still off. The electricians working in the substation have said the power will be on “in half an hour” for the past 2 hours. Not quite sure if they really know the extent of the problem and whEn a permanent solution will be effected. All work is being done by subcontractors, so there is no accountability in the council.

  6. Power in Sunward Park off again for the past 19 Hours. Went off 17h00 on 30 December. Still off. Please investigate what the problem is !! These guys are not telling the truth, I suspect the infrastructure collapsed.

  7. The first working day of 2014, Monday 6th January, got off to a good start in Freeway Park and Sunward Park. The council had a team repairing pot-holes in Sunward Park, and one of the first holes that they patched was the mega-pothole at the corner of Duiker & Uiterkyk, that has been damaging suspensions for over a month. A tree cutting crew were also at work in Freeway Park – removing problem trees on pavements.
So I was ready to give Ekurhuleni Council full marks for good service to residents.
Then, in the early hours of Tuesday, 7th January, the lights once again went out in Freeway and Sunward. They came on again about 4 hours later – so at the moment there is no longer a problem. It is however worrying that the power failures that have been hitting the area over the last 6 weeks are still happening. Ekurhuleni Council need to find out what chronic problem keeps recurring – then they need to fix the problem permanently.

  8. In Freeway, yet another day without electricity! Here I am gearing up for a busy month end, and all sales lost thanks to no electricity yet again! The number of power outages in Freeway is completely unacceptable. Can our council provide service delivery? NO!!!!
