New shelter for Bokkie Park animals

The Ekurhuleni metro says it in the process of upgrading the Bokkie Park, which includes constructing new shelters for the animals.

This will come as a relief to concerned resident, Nouleen Botha, who contacted the Advertiser with queries on the safety of animals at the Bokkie Park in light of the recent storms in Boksburg.

“I am really concerned that some of the larger animals at the Bokkie Park have no shelter during these terrible hailstorms. A piece of hail that can shatter my windows, makeS a heavy dent in metal and shatter plastic, could easily kill or hurt a defenceless animal that has nowhere to go,” she says.

Metro’s said the matter is being dealt with.

“A big new animal shed is in the process of construction and should be completed before the end of December 2013,” said metro spokesperson Mandlakazi Mpahlwa-Sigcawu.
