
According to Vusi Mabanga, spokesperson for the EMPD, 34 fines were issued for registration and licensing contraventions.
He adds that 163 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 68 fines for parking and stopping offences.
“Some 21 fines were issued to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP),” he adds.
A further 55 motorists were fined for driving while talking on their cellphones without a hands-free kit.
He adds that they arrested one person for theft of a motor vehicle and recovered the vehicle, and arrested two suspects for possession of dagga.
There were 23 accidents in the area, in all of which only damages occurred.
