Four months imprisonment for theft

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Katelgo Fortune Nyangule (21), Mpho Duitwiling (28) and Mpho Mofokeng (26) appeared in court on charge of aggravated robbery.

They pleaded guilty, and were found guilty, on November 6, and sentenced on November 25, to 10 years imprisonment.

On April 18, the men assaulted Brenda Mogale, threatened her with a firearm and stole her handbag.

Duitwiling had previous convictions of assaulted from June 2001, theft from September 2007, theft from December 2007 and robbery from May 2012.

Mofokeng had previous convictions of robbery from June 2006, possession of an unlicenced firearm from September 2008 and house break-in from August 2009.

Magistrate Kganki Phahlamohlaka and Vuthlari Mulungwa appeared on behalf of the State.

* Charles Mpholo (24), from Angelo informal settlement, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on November 22, to R2 000 or four months imprisonment suspended for five years.

On November 2, the accused stole a box of chicken pieces from Tekle Eebrehona, to the value of R125.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Phikani Yaleko (37) appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on November 26, to 18 months imprisonment.

On October 26, in Dawn Park, the accused assaulted Teboho Motlomelo, by hitting him with an iron rod.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Jaque van Deventer (25) and Phillip Jonck (32), from Cason, appeared in court on a charge of crimen injuria and assault, respectively.

They pleaded guilty, were found guilty, and sentenced to R4 000 or four months imprisonment.

On July 20, van Deventer verbally assaulted Raymond Podile and Jonck threatened to shoot the complainant.

Magistrate Ryan van Harte presided over the matter and Busi Mofokeng appeared on behalf of the State.
