Work underway to restore power to Boksburg East

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has confirmed that power failure in the Boksburg East Industrial area is due to cable theft.

The metro, however, assures businesses in the Boksburg East industrial area that it is working diligently to restore power by this evening, November 18.

“Parts of the Boksburg East industrial area have been without power since 8am after a break-in at a substation where an 11kV cable was stolen. Electrical engineers are currently on site carrying out repairs, and it is expected that power will be restored by the end of the day,” says metro spokesperson Sam Modiba.

“Customers are, however, assured that should this deadline not be met, work will continue until power is reinstated to all affected areas,” he adds.
