Rand Water fence off trenches after residents complain
Rand Water contractors recently fenced off the open trenches on the open veld, at the corner of the N17 off-ramp and Rondebult Road.
This includes several abandoned water pipeline trenches that were left open in Thomas Pringle Street, Boksburg South, and in Libradene.
Residents slammed the organisation for being negligent and irresponsible, after its workers dug several trenches in the area while laying underground pipelines for water services, and then left the trenches open, without adequate warning signs.
The contractors also left the project half finished.
In response to the residents’ complaints, Rand Water appointed contractors to fence off and limit access to the area, to prevent people from accidentally falling into the trenches.
Rand Water confirmed that a substitute main contractor, appointed to complete the outstanding work on the unfinished water pipeline in Boksburg, will commence work at the end of November.
