Sipho laid to rest, killers still at large

Five-year-old Siphosihle Dladla, whose body was discovered near a railway line in Katlehong, was laid to rest at the Rondebult cemetery, Boksburg, on Tuesday, November 5.

Friends, relatives and friends gathered in Holomisa to bid a final farewell to Siphosihle.

The procession then travel to the gravesite where they laid their beloved Siphosihle to rest.

Police are still hunting his killers and they are asking the public for help in tracking down the suspected couple, Bongani Dladla and his girlfriend Sindy, wanted for the murder.

Bongani is described as a black male, light in complexion and has black spots on his face.

He used to stay in Holomisa, Boksburg, with Siphosihle mother and grandmother, before he relocated to Thokoza Hostel.

A passer-by had found Siphosihle’s body dumped alongside the railway line in Katlehong on Saturday night, August 17.

He was apparently beaten to death and his body had cigarette burns on his stomach.

Police managed to identify the boy, two months after the discovery. This was after Siphosihle’s picture was published in a newspaper.

After seeing the picture of Siphosihle, Siphosihle’s mother approached the police. The police took her to the Germiston Government Mortuary, where she positively identified her son.

According to Vosloorus SAPS spokesperson Capt Piet Rossouw, police discovered that a friend of Siphosihle’s father filed a missing person report, nearly two months after his body was found.

“In his report, the man who filed the report, known as Mbatha, said that he had seen Siphosihle the day before,” says Rossouw.

Mbatha was then arrested and charged with perjury.

It also emerged that Siphosihle’s father and mother are niece and uncle.

Bongani Dladla began a relationship with his 13-year-old niece. At the time, Dladla was staying in Holomisa with Siphosihle’s mother and grandmother.

Eventually Dladla relocated to Thokoza hostel. Few weeks later, Siphosihle’s mother fled and joined her uncle.

“They stayed in Thokoza for a while as husband and wife. But after being abused, Siphosihle’s mother left with Siphosihle,” said Rossouw.

“As an unemployed single parent, Siphosihle’s mother was struggling to look after her son Siphosihle, and then she decided to take him to live with his father and his father’s new girlfriend, last year,” explained Rossouw.

Initially, the police arrested Siphosihle’s mother and charged her with neglect. However the charges were later withdrawn and she was released.

The father and his girlfriend are apparently on the run.
