The discovery was made by Dawn Park police on November 5, on Diana Road.
Dawn Park police spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala says the caskets found were covered in sand, and still had all the cushioning and lining inside.
“It is difficult for us to say whether they were dug up and stolen from a cemetery. Someone needs to first to report a missing casket,” says Tshabalala.
Tshabala says at the moment there are no leads or suspects, but a case of theft has been opened and investigation continues.
