Conference creates awareness around albinism

Over 250 children and adults with albinism came from all nine provinces to gather in Boksburg for the inaugural National Albinism Conference from October 25 until 27.

The conference was held at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre, with a children’s conference held concurrently.

The conference was aimed at providing a platform for the children with albinism to explore, engage and have fun on their lives, hopes aspirations.

Deputy minister for the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Hendrietta Bagopane, welcomed the guests.

The conference was soon lit up with song and dance when Emelie Olifant got up on stage and entertained the guests with her singing.
