Police met no resistance from the learners in the operation, which attracted numerous media representatives from across the country.
In each classroom that they searched, police officers politely greeted the pupils and briefed them on what would happen during the search.
Female pupils were searched separately from the boys, while police encouraged learners to stay away from drugs.
One of the learners, Timothy Pretorius, praised the police for the raid and expressed his approval of the school search.
“Such action by the police will make our schools a safe learning environment,” he said.
Tshepang Bopape, another of the learners, said: “The raid will send out a strong warning to criminals and fellow learners that if you bring illegal substances to our schools or get involved in firearms-related incidents then you will have to deal with the law.”
Officials from the Department of Education, Department of Community Safety and teachers from the school were also present during the search.
The police found no drugs or dangerous weapons.
