The arrests came after police officers, acting on a tip-off, raided the couple’s home on Leon Ferreira Drive.
A large amount of chemicals, which are apparently used to manufacture drugs, were confiscated.
While officers were at the house, carrying out their investigation, the wife of the home owner arrived and was immediately placed under arrest.
According to Sgt Mashudu Phathela, spokeswoman for the Reiger Park SAPS, the husband handed himself over to the police on Wednesday afternoon, October 16.
They were both charged with possession of chemicals used to manufacture drugs.
Police say the raid was one of the biggest to take place in the area and that it is highly unusual for police officers to raid a drug lab in the area.
Reiger Park has the highest drug offences rate compared to other areas in Boksburg, and officers described the discovery as a breakthrough in the drug war.
The couple were granted R5000 bail each in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 17.
