
The closure was due to the reconstruction of a sewerage pipe that had collapsed and resulted in the road surface caving in on the westbound side of the road, on September 23.
Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson, Sam Modiba says subsequent to the rehabilitation process, investigations were conducted to check for possible sinkholes, given that the area is within the dolomite zone, and none were found.
“The road was declared safe for use and re-opened on Friday, October 4,” he says.
“The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
