Toy gun lands man in hospital

A man is in hospital with serious injuries, following a beating administered to him by community members in Holomisa informal settlement.

This is according to Capt Charles Tshabalala, from the Dawn Park police station.

He says the victim of mob justice was terrorising community members with a toy gun.

“The community wanted to set him alight. If police had not arrived on the scene he would be dead,” he says.

Tshabalala adds that the perpetrator robbed a school boy from Villa Lisa High School of his cellphone during the morning with three other accomplishes who managed to escape the mob.

A case of theft has not yet been opened as the school boy is a minor and police will need his parents’ consent.
